C6 HDi 173 DPFS: the
luxury saloon that merges
elegance with reason |
|
|
|
| From
October, the C6 range will be available with a new 173 bhp DIN (125
kW or 170 bhp EEC) HDi diesel engine with a particulate filter (DPFS)
mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This
new offer rounds out the range of two V6 HDi and petrol engines and
widens Citroën’s customer base. The
173 bhp HDi DPFS engine is the crowning touch to
Citroën’s
four-cylinder HDi engines. The new arrival boasts innovations, such
as a parallel sequential dual turbo and new combustion and injection
systems, that bring greater driving pleasure, notably at low speeds,
enhance environmental performance (Euro IV and DPFS), and cut fuel
consumption. The
engine was developed as part PSA Peugeot Citroën’s
cooperation
with Ford Motor Company and is produced at the Trémery site
in
France. |

|
A
new engine with multiple qualities
Responsive
use and silent operation
The
173 bhp HDi DPFS enhances C6 driving pleasure with its parallel
sequential dual turbo, a world first on a 4-cylinder diesel engine.
The
parallel sequential dual turbo provides plenty of torque at low
speeds and does away with turbo lag to activate the turbocharger
immediately. Maximum torque of 370 Nm is obtained from 1,500 rpm and
remains constant up to 2,700 rpm, the most commonly used operating
range.
The
parallel sequential dual turbo system is based on the use of two
identically sized, fixed-geometry turbochargers.
At
low speeds, i.e. under 2,700 rpm, only one of the turbochargers
functions. This low inertia turbocharger delivers instant engine
response.
At
engine speeds of more than 2,700 rpm, the second turbocharger kicks
in to supply the increased air intake required at higher engine
speeds.

A
transient phase, during which the second turbocharger starts spinning
but is not yet hooked up to the air intake, ensures a smooth
start-up.
This
system is fully managed by the engine control unit.
The
presence of two balancer shafts makes for a better drive by limiting
engine vibration.
Reduced
fuel consumption and emissions
The
new engine also has a new ECCS (Extreme Conventional Combustion
System) combustion chamber that optimises the air/fuel blend, along
with a third-generation common rail system, in which pressure is
increased to 1,800 bars for a finer fuel spray. This combination
reduces pollutant emissions and fuel consumption while enhancing
performance.
Systematically
fitted with a DPFS, this new engine consumes 6.6 l/100 km over a
combined cycle and emits just 175 g/km of CO2.

Exclusive
styling and generous cabin space
Unique
styling
The
flowing, powerful lines of the eminently distinguished C6 bring to
mind an elegant coupé or an executive limousine, depending
on
the angle from which the car is viewed.
This
executive saloon takes the essential cues of its segment –
elegance, sophistication and on-the-road presence – and
combines
them with the Marque's own key values such as aerodynamics. On the
173 bhp HDi DPFS version, a perfectly-integrated fixed rear spoiler
enhances the elegant silhouette of the C6.
Spacious
interior
With
a 2.90 m wheelbase and 1.83 m cabin length, the C6 meets all the
functional requirements of luxury saloon customers looking for
outstanding interior space. The
numerous stowage compartments evenly distributed around the passenger
compartment add to on-board spaciousness and underline the
vehicle’s
practical side.
The
C6’s 488-litre boot space (421 litres VDA) can be easily
increased
thanks to a 60:40 split/fold rear seat.
Equipped
with the Lounge Pack, boot volume is 470 litres (411 litres VDA).
On-board
comfort
Drivers
can easily find the perfect driving position thanks to electric front
seats with five adjustment settings and electrically adjustable
steering wheel settings.
The
flat floorpan at the back increases the impression of roominess, and
considerably improves the space available.
With
the Lounge Pack, rear passengers have two electrically adjustable
individual seats for ultimate relaxation and comfort.
To
meet passenger requirements on individual comfort, the C6 is equipped
with dual-zone automatic air conditioning with a relay blower at the
back.
And
for even more comfort, the C6 can be fitted with laminated side
windows that significantly filter out wind noise and exterior noise.
A
wide array of technologies for exemplary comfort and safety
Head-up
display

rare in the automotive market, the head-up display projects key
driving information – such as speed and |
Sophisticated
running gear
To
effectively separate the guidance and damping functions on the C6,
the suspension features double wishbones with a linked hub carrier at
the front, and a multi-link set-up at the rear. This arrangement
provides high-level roadholding in all circumstances, even on uneven,
bumpy roads, and virtually eliminates steering vibrations while
optimising cornering precision.

High-spec
hydraulic suspension
The 173 bhp
HDi DPFS version of the C6 features the Hydractive III Plus system,
characterised by variable springing and damping with two settings,
comfort or dynamic, selected automatically according to road surface
and driving style. This system offers the finest compromise between
driving pleasure, roadholding and suspension comfort. Drivers
can also select a sport setting for a more dynamic driving style for
sporting sensations.
Precise
and flexible steering
To further
boost its dynamic behaviour, the 173 bhp HDi DPFS C6 is equipped with
hydraulic power steering, ensured by an electric pump unit (GEP).
This system adjusts to vehicle speed, bringing the driver a sensation
of ease accompanied by a feeling of safety.
A
complete range of safety equipment
The
C6 also aims to be a class leader in safety, in terms of both vehicle
control and passenger protection. High-level active and passive
safety are provided by a range of standard equipment, including ESP,
a stiff body structure, nine airbags including one for the
driver’s
knees, and active headrests on the front seats. |

the windscreen in the driver's direct line of vision.
Adjustable
for height and brightness, the head-up display makes a major
contribution to safety with its direct read-out. Drivers assimilate
data more quickly and do not have to look away from the road.
Lane
departure warning system (LDWS)
Once
activated, the LDWS detects any unintentional lane changes with
indicators off, on a motorway or major road at speeds of 80 kph and
over.
A
vibrating mechanism mounted in the car seat is activated on the side
corresponding to the direction of vehicle drift in order to alert the
driver, who can then steer the car back on course.
Xenon
dual-function directional head- lamps
The
C6 is fitted with xenon dual-function directional headlamps that can
be controlled electronically, ensuring optimal directional lighting
when cornering.
Dedicated
daytime running lights
The
C6 is equipped with daytime running lights with specially adapted
photometry. Placed next to the fog lamps, they consume little energy,
and can be easily activated or deactivated using the onboard
computer.
Electric
parking brake
The
C6 features an electric parking brake that automatically adjusts the
tightening torque necessary to immobilise the car. Ergonomic controls
are provided on the central console.
Front
and rear parking assistance
Sensors
located in the front and rear bumpers detect any obstacles close to
the vehicle. A series of bleeps from the loudspeaker and the picture
on the multifunction screen tell the driver exactly how close he or
she is to the obstacle detected.
|
|
|
|
|
|
The
features of the C6 have been perfectly adapted to the most powerful
4-cylinder HDi engine in Citroën’s powertrain
arsenal. The
173
bhp HDi DPFS version of the C6 boasts outstanding ride comfort,
one-in-a-million styling, exceptional interior space and high-spec
equipment levels. |

Langsam streift die Kamera über
eine metallicgraue
Autokarosserie, dazu

technische
Höchstleistungen im Jahr der Fußball-WM ist
provokant, aber
sie hat
einen realen Hintergrund. „Mit dem neuen C6 treten wir in
einer
Klasse
symbolische Bedeutung. „Oberklasselimousinen dienen auch der
Repräsentation, wie Staatsempfänge. Und die
Nationalhymne,
die bei
solchen Anlässen zu hören ist, drückt eine
besondere
Legitimation aus,
verweist auf die Geschichte. In der Oberklasse zählt die
Geschichte
einer Marke, Newcomer haben es schwer. Wir sind kein Newcomer und
leiten unsere Legitimation von legendären Auto-Klassikern wie
dem
Citroën DS ab“, so Heine.
Der von der EuroRSCG Düsseldorf entwickelte Werbespot mit den
Nationalhymnen wird ab dem 2. Mai auf den wichtigsten bundesweiten
Fernsehkanälen eine Woche lang ausgestrahlt. „Es ist
unser
Paukenschlag
zum Auftakt“, so Heine. Am darauf folgenden Wochenende (5.-7.
Mai) ist
bundesweiter Tag der offenen Tür im
Citroën-Händlernetz.

CLAUDE SATINET A REÇU POUR
CITROËN LE PRIX
DE L’INNOVATION POUR LE CAPOT ACTIF DE C6. |
|
|
|
|
|

The
Rennes
Plant: Producing Executive Peugeot and Citroën Models
Production of the Peugeot 407 Coupé and Citroën C6
began in
late 2005, establishing the Rennes plant as PSA Peugeot
Citroën’s
dedicated executive model production facility.
These launches are the results of the Group’s ambitious
platform
strategy, which began deployment in 2001. Based on sharing parts and
components between various Peugeot and Citroën vehicles, the
strategy accelerates model launches and vehicle range expansion whilst
controlling costs.
The Rennes plant is the only Group facility dedicated to the production
of upper medium and executive segment models - built on platform 3. The
plant currently produces 6 different models: the Peugeot 407, 407 SW
and 407 Coupé and the Citroën C5, C5 estate and
Citroën C6—all on the same platform.
The Peugeot 407 Coupé and Citroën C6 are executive
models
with very different designs. To enable their production on the same
assembly line, € 158 million were invested in the Rennes
plant,
with
approximately €80 million of shared expenditure.
To achieve the highest standards in production, two new
workshops
exclusively dedicated to manufacturing these vehicles were built at the
plant: an 18,500-square-metre body-in-white unit, employing 265 people,
and a 38,500-square-metre assembly line with 560 employees.
Throughout the dedicated production process, vehicles are
systematically checked one by one to ensure they meet the high
standards customers expect regarding design, handling, comfort and
sound-proofing. In total ten hours of quality control are spent on
every executive vehicle. An innovative training
program focusing on attention to detail was
instigated at the Rennes plant. The aim of which was to raise
employees’ awareness of customers’ high
expectations in the
executive
model segment, where perfect attention to detail can make all the
difference.
In addition, considerable effort was made to inform and
sensitise suppliers to the specific requirements of the
Citroën C6
and Peugeot 407 Coupé projects. In the
current ramp-up phase, 90 Peugeot 407 Coupé
and 15
Citroën C6 are produced every day in Rennes. Full production
capacity is expected to be 20 vehicles an hour.
With 3,375,000 vehicles sold in 2004, representing € 56.8
million
in
revenue, PSA Peugeot Citroën is Europe’s no. 2
carmaker. It's
two
strong volume brands - Peugeot and Citroën - are present in
more
than 140 countries. PSA Peugeot Citroën has 30 production
facilities and employs 207,000 people worldwide. |
